Free Standing Altar
free-standing ALTAR was placed in the sanctuary in 1969, the result of then popular liturgical trends. It is clothed with beautiful frontals that once graced the high altar. The two EUCHARISTIC CANDLESTICKS, symbolizing the divine and human natures of Christ, at one time belonged to Milwaukee’s Roman Catholic Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist. They survived a fire that gutted the interior of the Roman cathedral in 1935. They were acquired by a parishioner who then presented them to the Episcopal cathedral in the 1970s.
